The Sun Met, January 27 2018 – What to Expect and how you should dress

2018 Kicked off the Year with the L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate (LQP) which displayed an extravagant two-day affair with some of South Africa’s finest celebrities and high rollers.

Coming up this weekend is The Sun Met which is an event that is known for not only its opulence but also the fantastic vibe and people who attend. The Sun Met event will be providing world class entertainment and premium hospitality to those attending.  The event will feature an impressive entertainment line-up which includes, Sketchy Bongo featuring Kyle Deutsch and Shekhinah, Goodluck, Euphonik and Mi Casa. Apart from all the glamour, The Sun Met also offers equestrian enthusiasts a stake of R2.5 million in the main event.

From socialites to all the experts in the fashion industry it is an event not to be missed. Hosted at the well-known Kenilworth Racecourse you can find some of South Africa’s top thoroughbred horses bolting away on the racetrack as you sip on a craft Gin under the Sun. But although this sounds very exciting, the imperative question beckons… What to wear? Because it is important to make sure you are soaring through the bleachers in style.

This year’s theme is to attend with bright colours, prints, and textures inspired by Africa. The formal name of the theme has been dubbed ‘Style Ahead of the Field’. We love the idea, and we’re sure you’re already buzzing with thoughts on what you’re going to throw together. Here’s some outfit inspiration that we think will assist in the cognitive process which may just get you on the best-dressed list.

Look 1 – Fresh and cool.

A day spent at the Sun Met wouldn’t be same without the heat of the day so one might as well embrace the rays of beauty with minimal whites to reflect the heat and allow you to stand out and shine among the crowd.

Look 2 – Suit up

Brighten and button up with your most eccentric suit, guaranteed to catch the eyes and turn the heads of style icons at the Sun Met. Nothing indirectly describes a gentlemen quite like a suave suit.

Look 3 – Always Athleisure

Whether you’re a true supporter or a game changer yourself, be inspired by our range of La Martina Polo shirts or trousers – perfectly suited for a day at the races.
